Inspection of single leg chain slings:
- Before use inspect all chain slings.
- First clean the sling in order to spot defects more easily.
- Hang the sling vertically and measure the reach from bearing to bearing.
- Compare the actual length of the sling with the reach stamped on the sling chain identification tag.
- Check link by link and all attachments for:
- excessive corrosion
- spread in throat openings of hooks
- cracks, bent or twisted links, gouges and wear
